Introducing Hugo Alejandro Díez (b. 1988, Medellín, Colombia) one of the artists participating in New Poetics of Labor 2018.
Artist statement:Nací en la ciudad de Medellín en el año de 1988, desde muy niño curioso por las formas y los colores. Soy Comunicador Social y Periodista de la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana y estudiante de Maestría en Historia en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Mis ilustraciones son un intento por ordenar un poco las ideas que pasan por mi cabeza mientras monto en Circular Coonatra, me tomo una pola en Carlos E. Restrepo o miro la ciudad desde la terraza de mi edificio. Son reflejo de mis destrucciones y reconstrucciones, de mi sujeto, válvula de escape. Since I was a child I was very curious in different shapes and colors. I am a Social Communicator and Journalist at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana and am currently working towards a Masters in History at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. My illustrations are an attempt to order the ideas that go through my head while I ride my Circular Coonatra, have a pola in Carlos E. Restrepo or look at the city from the terrace of my building. They are a reflection of the destructions and reconstructions, of my subject: an escape valve.
