Introducing Marina Berio (lives and works in NYC), one of the artists participating in New Poetics of Labor 2018.
Marina Berio is a visual artist from New York City who works with drawings and photography to convey aspects of visual experience that are intimate and visceral. She has made family pictures out of her own blood and rendered photographic negatives of spaces, objects and landscapes as large-scale charcoal drawings. Her current project, shot almost entirely on the walls of her studio in Brooklyn, further expresses the interrelationship between several nested realities, emphasizing the mental dimensions of creative process, and the boundaries and internal topography of the body and sense of place.
Berio has two upcoming solo shows scheduled for spring 2018, in the Hamburg Off Triennale and an-as-yet-to-open new gallery in Paris. She teaches at the International Center of Photography in New York.
