Introducing Ally Caple (b. 1995, Connecticut, United States), one of the artists participating in New Poetics of Labor 2018.
Caple is a queer biracial photographer based in New York City. A graduate of SUNY Purchase College, she received a BFA in Photography and BA in Arts Management in May 2017. Most recently, she attended the SPE National Conference in Philadelphia where she gave a keynote presentation with Giancarlo Montes Santangelo, Cristina Velásquez, and Stanley Wolukau-Wanambwa; the lecture, titled On the Perils and Possibilities of Being Diverse, discussed her artistic practice and her experience as a minority within art education. Ally’s photographic work relates to her local surroundings and the positions she’s held as a nanny, particularly under the context of the 2016 US Presidential Election.
